Bosch Young Talent Show, 2011

Bosch Young Talent Show (BYTS) is an international art event featuring promising visual artists younger than 30. Renowned art scouts from Europe and the United States selected some fifty talents from the Bosch cities* Berlin, Bruges, Brussels, Frankfurt, Ghent, Lisbon, London, Madrid, New Haven, New York, Paris, Rotterdam, Venice and Vienna and from ’s‑Hertogenbosch.
Their works have been compiled in a challenging exhibition with paintings, sculptures, photography, drawings, collages, murals, installations, performances and video art.

* Cities housing one or more works by Jheronimus Bosch in public art collections.

BYTS is produced by the Jheronimus Bosch 500 Foundation (Monique Verhulst, Robbert-Jan Blekemolen of Artventures and Isabelle Savelkoul).

Unique concept

BYTS shows the most topical developments in the field of present-day arts. That gives the course, plotted out in the old days by Jheronimus Bosch, a new, contemporary impulse. In his days Bosch experimented with composition, colour and depiction. BYTS wants to present a sampling of developments in the world of present-day art.
The BYTS concept is unique. The around fifty participants are selected by art scouts, artists who have gained international renown in the professional art world. Their job is to make a cutting-edge selection from artists of the youngest generation. BYTS wants to facilitate talent development and professionalisation of the daily practice for young artists as well as extension of their worldwide networks. Of course BYTS is a public event too: gallery owners, collectors and all other stakeholders and interested people can meet young, international talent.

Bosch Young Talent Show is an innovation laboratory. Just like in Jheronimus Bosch’s days the city of ’s‑Hertogenbosch developed from a small town into a high-profile centre of religion and culture, BYTS offers the city the opportunity to present itself as an international platform for present-day art. That gives the course, plotted out in the old days by Jheronimus Bosch, a new impulse.
